Tour of Duty arc

Tour of Duty is a story arc that spans chapters 1 and 2 of Star Trek: Federation Legacy.

It introduces most of the primary characters and sets the stage for the Klingon War arc; Jason Fredricks is promoted to commanding officer of the USS Leviathan after its previous captain and the other senior officers are either killed or captured by the Klingons. Several other up-and-coming junior officers also receive senior positions to fill the void.

Summary

Jason Fredricks graduates from Starfleet Academy in 2408 and is selected by Captain Masc Taggart to be the tactical officer of the USS Leviathan. Eight months later, the Leviathan gains several new officers, including a new first officer, Henry Fuller, and science officer, Lucas Wells. Both Taggart and Fuller are killed in a rogue attack by a Klingon vessel masquerading as a cargo freighter.

A short time later, the Borg reestablish their presence in the Beta Quadrant when they invade the Vega colony. While the young officers of the Leviathan work to stop the Borg invasion planetside, the Federation's fleet manages to push the Borg forces out of the system, but not before major damage is done to the colony.

After a terrible and extraordinary event which leaves both the commanding and executive officer positions vacant, Ensign Jason Fredricks takes command of the USS Leviathan, joining the USS Renown in the Pollux system to assist another vessel in need.

Background and trivia

• Tour of Duty was originally called Borg Advance, but CaptFredricks felt that Tour of Duty fit better.
• This arc is loosely based on the 25th century Starfleet tutorial from Star Trek Online.
