CAPT. BRANSON'S (VO): Captain's Log Stardate 53788.2, The Enterprise is studying an interstellar nebula cloud this should be a welcoming change for the crew instead of getting shot at or shooting back
INT-CAPTAIN BRANSON'S QUARTERS
Captain Branson is getting ready for duty and looking out the window of his quarters when the com activates.
CMDR. IVANOVA (Com voice): Bridge to Captain
Captain Branson tapped his combadge.
CAPT. BRANSON (To com): Branson here go ahead?
CMDR. IVANOVA (Com Voice): Captain, you have an Alpha Priority communication from Starfleet Command
Captain Branson thinks then sits at the desk and turns his desktop monitor.
CAPT. BRANSON (To com): Route it to my quarters Z.
A few minutes later the Federation Symbol appears and then the office of newly promoted Admiral Kathryn Janeway appears on the monitor.
AMD. JANEWAY (Monitor): Captain Branson what's your status right now?
CAPT. BRANSON: Everything is going well ma'am we're just studying a class-J nebula cloud all systems are functioning normally.
ADM. JANEWAY (Monitor): I'm going to have to postpone that mission we've been asked by the new Cardassian Ambassador Garak, to assist his people with an issue they've got one of their ships went missing while we were on the final push to Cardassia
CAPT. BRANSON (Surprised): One of their ships went missing during the war?
She nods.
ADM. JANEWAY (Monitor): I wasn't here for the entire war but seeing the reports that I got from the datastreams I take it that we won by the skin of our teeth
CAPT. BRANSON: Yes, ma'am we did and have they granted us to enter their borders?
ADM. JANEWAY (Monitor): They've granted you safe passage... We've agreed that you'll take along a delegation of observers as a show of good faith. (beat) Captain... I don't have to tell you the Federation is not prepared for a new sustained conflict. You must preserve the peace... no matter what the cost. Janeway out
The symbol of the Federation appears on the monitor and then it goes blank as Branson sits there a moment reflecting on the precariousness of the situation and tapped his combadge.
CAPT. BRANSON (to com): Branson to Bridge.
CMDR. IVANOVA (Com Voice): Ivanova here
CAPT. BRANSON (To com): Set course for the Cardassian border maximum warp, have the senior staff meet me in the briefing room I'm on my way now.
Captain Branson gets up and leaves his quarters.

Enterprise goes into a great arch and leaps into warp.

The Enterprise is at high warp on course for Cardassian border.
INT-BRIEFING ROOM
The Senior Staff sits around the table.
CAPT. BRANSON: Here's the situation right now we've been ordered to the Cardassian border, apparently one of their warships has gone missing and they can't find it.
CMDR. IVANOVA: So what are we going to do?
CAPT. BRANSON: We're to proceed to the border and meet up the Galor-Class vessel Reklar commanded by Gul Lemec, he was the Cardassian who met with Admiral Jellico in 2370 to hammer out the treaty.
The senior staff takes in the situation when Sito responds to this.
LT. SITO: Captain these are Cardassians their monsters and murders they slaughtered half of my people during the occupation and tortured and beat me when I was captured by them (beats) and I think this isn't right about this.
Captain Branson was about to say something then Sito leaves in a huff.
CAPT. BRANSON: Well I guess we can get started on this mission dismissed.
The senior staff leaves the briefing room.
CUT TO:
INT-ENTERPIRSE MAIN BRIDGE
The senior staff exits the briefing room and assumes their posts.
LT. CARLSON: Approaching the border.
Captain Branson sits in the Captain's chair.
CAPT. BRANSON: Drop us out of warp.
Lieutenant Carlson inputs commands into the helm station.
LT. CARLSON: Securing us from warp now sir.
EXT-SPACE/FEDERATION-CARDASSIAN BORDER
The Enterprise emerges from warp and approaches the border.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE
Captain Branson leans forward.
LT. MASON: Sensors picking up a Cardassian vessel bearing 2-3-4 mark 5-5-4.
CAPT. BRANSON: Let's see it.
Transparent viewer shows the Cardassian vessel approaching.
CMDR. IVANOVA: Should we raise shields sir?
CAPT. BRANSON: No leave them down we're here for diplomacy Z.
Captain Branson gets up from the Captain's chair.
CAPT. BRANSON: Jack open a channel.
Lieutenant Mason inputs commands into the console.
LT. MASON: Their responding now sir.
Transparent viewer changes to the bridge of the Cardassian vessel.
CAPT. BRANSON: Greetings I'm John Branson Captain of the Federation Starship USS Enterprise we're here at the request of Starfleet Command and the Federation Council.
GUL LEMEC (Viewer): Its good that we've got our friends in the Federation to help us our vessel went missing two weeks ago, we were hoping that you can help us
CAPT. BRANSON: We're happy to help.
He nods and ends the transmission.
Both Captain Branson and Commander Ivanova sit in their chairs.
CAPT. BRANSON: Kara get us next to the Reklar.
LT. CARLSON (nods): Aye, sir.
Lieutenant Carlson inputs commands into the helm.
CAPT. BRANSON (to Sito): Lieutenant Sito coordinate our searches with the Reklar operations officer.
LT. SITO: Aye, sir.
Lieutenant Sito inputs commands into the ops console still pissed off about being forced to help the people that subjected her people to slavery and beaten, drugged, and raped her when she was captured by them in 2370.
LT. CARLSON: Sito are you alright?
LT. SITO: I'm fine Kara.
EXT-SPACE/CARASSIAN BORDER
The Enterprise is searching grid 1-8-0.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE
Captain Branson is sitting in the center chair when Lieutenant Mason reports.
LT. MASON: Sir I'm picking up something bearing 3-4-5 mark 7-6-7.
Lieutenant Carlson reports as well.
LT. CARLSON: I'm getting it as well.
CAPT. BRANSON: On screen.
Transparent viewer shows a debris field.
LT. SITO: Its Cardassian alright sir.
Commander Ivanova walks up next to Captain Branson.
CAPT. BRANSON: Survivors?
Lieutenant Mason checks and reports.
LT. MASON: None sir.
Both Captain Branson and Commander Ivanova are shocked hearing that.

Act Two[]

EXT-SPACE/CARDASSIAN SPACE
The Enterprise is in front of a debris field.
INT-CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM
Captain Branson is briefing Fleet Admiral Nechayev on the situation.
FLEET ADM. NECHAYEV (Monitor): What can you tell me Captain?
CAPT. BRANSON (Sighs): No survivors ma'am we're currently searching for the Black box to determine what happened to it.
FLEET ADM. NECHAYEV (Monitor): Damn that's not good I've informed Ambassador Garak of the situation they're sending another warship to help the Reklar tow what's left of their vessel to the nearest base, I want the Enterprise to escort them to the base to make sure that they get here safe
CAPT. BRANSON (Nods): Aye, Admiral.
FLEET ADM. NECHAYEV (Monitor): Starfleet out
Federation Symbol appears and the screen goes blank as Captain Branson thinks.
INT-SITO'S QUARTERS
Sito is meditating when the doors chimed.
SITO: Come.
The doors opened and Captain Branson enters.
CAPT. BRANSON: Sito?
SITO: Captain I'll be on the bridge in an hour.
He puts his hand up.
CAPT. BRANSON: It's alright Sito I just got off the com with Admiral Nechayev.
LT. SITO: Did you tell her about my issue?
CAPT. BRANSON: No I didn't I'm not losing my Chief Operations Officer because she's got an issue with the Cardassians.
SITO: Its one Cardassian.
She leads her to her desk and activates the desktop monitor.
CAPT. BRANSON: Well I'll be damned Gul Rejak.
Sito turns to him.
SITO: You know him?
CAPT. BRANSON: Yeah he led the battlegroup and tore 14 out of 112 ships in the Seventh Battlegroup at the start of the Dominion War, after the war he was never heard from some people thought he was killed when the Dominion/Breen Alliance bombarded Cardassia.
SITO: John I have this urge to kill him but if he's dead then my right of Vengeance is nothing.
John sat next to her.
JOHN: Hey Sito its ok you've got the crew of this ship helping you and you've got great friends here and we'll keep an eye out for this Rejak.
She smiles at him.
SITO (Smiles): Thanks John.
EXT-SPACE/CARASSIAN SPACE
The Enterprise is escorting the Reklar and another Cardassian Warship that's towing the destroyed Cardassian vessel back to Cardassia.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE
Transparent viewer shows Cardassia.
CAPT. BRANSON: Establish standard orbit Kara.
LT. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
Commander Ivanova turns to him.
CMDR. IVANOVA: I wonder if we'll be welcomed when we beam down Medical and engineering supplies.
CAPT. BRANSON: I hope so.
Ivanova tapped her combadge.
CMDR. IVANOVA (to com): Engineering and Medical teams to transporter rooms 1-4.
CAPT. BRANSON: I'll be in my ready room you've got the bridge.
CMDR. IVANOVA: Aye, sir.
CUT TO:
INT-UNKNOWN VESSEL BRIDGE
Viewer shows the Enterprise in orbit of Cardassia.
TACTICAL OFFICER: They're shields are off-line at the moment.
Gul Rejak comes into view.
GUL REJAK (Smirks): Prep for an attack and keep them from finding our bases.
EXT-SPACE/CARDASSIA ORBIT
The Enterprise was in orbit of the planet.
INT-GYM
Sito is punching a punching bag having flashbacks to her mistreatment by Rejak and his men and she breathes heavily and stops and sweating, and she unwraps her fists and drinks her bottle of water.
INT-SICKBAY
DR. CARLSON: You did this while punching a punching bag?
Sito is sitting on a bio-bed.
SITO: Yeah.
Doctor Carlson starts treating her hands with a Dermal regenerator.
DR. CARLSON: Do you wanna talk about what's bothering you?
Sito just sits there as Doctor Carlson is running the regenerator on her hands.
DR. CARLSON: Sito I know what happened you I was at Starfleet Medical when the Defiant brought you to Earth for further treatment.
SITO: Being in Cardassian Space is bringing back some bad memories Steven.
Her wounds have been healed.
DR. CARLSON: Well you were feral and untouchable for two weeks it took Commander Branson for a Doctor to even get near you, he sat in on all of your treatments and counseling sessions just to make sure that you were ok.
Sito flexes her fist.
SITO: Thanks Doc.
Sito gets off the bio-bed and leaves sickbay.
EXT-SPACE/CARDASSIA ORBIT
The Enterprise is in orbit of the home of the Cardassian Union.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE
Lieutenant Carlson is checking her sensors and is confused by the readings as Lieutenant Mason who is in command while Commander Ivanova is in Cargo Bay 4 coordinating the relief effort and Captain Branson is getting rest gets up from the Captain's chair.
LT. MASON: Something wrong Lieutenant?
Lieutenant Carlson turns to him.
LT. CARLSON: There's something on my scanners within the last few hours several ships have been departing Cardassia and heading for the fourth moon.
Lieutenant Mason exams the scans.
LT. MASON: Keep your scanners on them and see where they're heading near that moon.
LT. CARLSON (nods): Aye, sir.
INT-CAPTAIN BRANSON'S QUARTERS
John is reading when the doors chimed.
JOHN: Come.
The doors opened and Sito is standing there.
JOHN (Surprised): Sito hey what's up?
SITO: I can't sleep John I keep having the same nightmare and my right of Vengeance is burning me inside every part of my body.
John puts the Book down and walks over to her.
JOHN: Sito I have my wife Jessica she could probably help with this she took a job on Bajor after the Cardassians left and helped the survivors cope with what happened and also helped the orphans of parents that died in the mines, she studied your case when we first met.
Sito looks at him.
SITO: John thanks I don't know what I would of done without people like my parents, Commander Worf, my friends and Admiral Picard I would of been out of Starfleet.
JOHN: You're welcome feel free to sleep on the couch I'm due back on the bridge soon.
SITO: Thanks.
EXT-SPACE/CARDASSIAN ORBIT
The Enterprise is in orbit of Cardassia.
INT-MAIN ENGINEERING
Lieutenant Carlson enters holding a PADD.
LT. CARLSON: The weekly helm report Chief.
Clarkson takes the PADD and checks it.
LTCMDR. CLARKSON: Nice work Lieutenant.
LT. CARLSON: Thank you sir I was wondering if you had time to review these sensor readings I took its on Cardassia's fourth moon, for the last few months I've been detecting ships leaving Cardassia within the last few hours.
Kyle looks over this.
LTCMDR. CLARKSON: Well I'll look into it.
She leaves as Kyle looks at the PADD.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (YELLOW ALERT)
Lights are flashing.
CMDR. IVANOVA: That's the last ship that's left Cardassia within the last hour.
CAPT. BRANSON: Have you found out where they're heading?
LT. SITO: According to the data its Cardassia's fourth moon.
CMDR. IVANOVA: Could it be with one of their shipyards?
LT. SITO: Not really Shipyards don't pump out that much energy as what we're detecting right now.
Captain Branson folds his arms.
CAPT. BRANSON: Open a channel to Lemec.
Transparent viewer shows the bridge of the Reklar.
CAPT. BRANSON: Lemec what's going on?
GUL LEMEC (Viewer): None of your business Captain
Channel closed.
CMDR. IVANOVA: Rude.
CAPT. BRANSON: Get me Ambassador Garak have the call transferred to my ready room, Z you've got the bridge set a course for the fourth moon.
CMDR. IVANOVA: Aye, sir.
Captain Branson enters his ready room.

Act Three[]

EXT-SPACE/CARDASSIAN SPACE
The Enterprise heads towards the fourth moon of Cardassia.
INT-CAPTAIN'S READY ROOM
Captain Branson is looking at the PADDs when the com activates.
CMDR. IVANOVA (Com Voice): Bridge to Branson
Captain Branson tapped his combadge.
CAPT. BRANSON (To com): Branson here go ahead.
CMDR. IVANOVA (Com Voice): Sorry to disturb you sir but you wanted to be informed when we reached Cardassia's fourth moon
CAPT. BRANSON (to com): I'm on my way.

EXT-SPACE/CARDASSIA'S FOURTH MOON
The Enterprise approaches the limb of the moon.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (YELLOW ALERT)
Transparent viewer shows the Moon.
CAPT. BRANSON: Anything?
LT. SITO: I'm detecting something its a huge power spike bearing 2-1-2 mark 3-6-8.
CAPT. BRANSON: Send it to the helm.
LT. CARLSON: Got it setting a course.
EXT-SPACE/CARDASSIA'S FOURTH MOON
The Enterprise loops around the moon.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (YELLOW ALERT)
Transparent viewer shows the shipyard.
CMDR. IVANOVA: What the hell?
CAPT. BRANSON: Jack get those shuttles back to the ship now.
LT. MASON: Aye, sir wait incoming fire!
Huge shower of sparks erupt from the ceiling as the lights dimmed and red lights flash and klaxon blares throughout the bridge.
CAPT. BRANSON: Report?
LT. SITO: Four Cardassian warships bearing 2-1-1 mark 7-8-8!
LT. MASON: Shields down to eighty-nine percent!
CAPT. BRANSON: Carlson bring us around one hundred eighty degrees, Mister Mason return fire!
Lieutenant Mason inputs commands into the tactical console as Lieutenant Carlson inputs commands into the helm station.
EXT-SPACE/CARDASSIA FOURTH MOON ORBIT
The Enterprise moves to port as Cardassian vessels fire at the Flagship hitting the dorsal shields as the Enterprise fires back at the lead vessel.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)
Sparks fly from the MSD as Sito looks at her console.
LT. SITO: Shields down to 34%.
(BOOM BOOM power hums down)
LT. SITO: Direct hit to our EPS conduit main power just went down.
CMDR. IVANOVA: Switch to auxiliary power.
Lights start flicking along with the console screens.
CAPT. BRANSON: let's execute the better part of valor Lieutenant Carlson warp six.
LT. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
EXT-SPACE/CARDASSIA'S FOURTH MOON
The Enterprise leaps into warp.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)
CAPT. BRANSON: Any sign of pursuit?
LT. SITO: Negative sir.
CMDR. IVANOVA: Wonder why they're rebuilding their forces?
CAPT. BRANSON: I'm not sure why but it's against the treaty of Bajor, Sito get me Starfleet Command.
LT. SITO: I can't Captain we're being jammed there's a Cardassian warship following us it's Keldon class.
CAPT. BRANSON: What?

The Enterprise is heading back to Federation Space with a Cardassian warship close behind her.

Act Four[]

EXT-SPACE/WARP TUNNEL
The Enterprise is soaring at warp with a Cardassian Warship is following it.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)
LT. CARLSON: We're at warp six she's probably pumping more power into her engines that we've never encounter.
CAPT. BRANSON: How far are we from the border?
LT. CARLSON: We're at forty kilometers away sir.
LT. MASON: We're being hailed by the Keldon sir.
CAPT. BRANSON: Open channel.
CARDASSIAN COMMANDER (Com Voice): Captain Branson standby and prepare to be boarded and have your computer erased
CAPT. BRANSON: You're not touching my ship's computer systems!
Ship jolts harder and harder.
LT. MASON: Shields are down to thirty-two percent phaser banks are off-line!
CAPT. BRANSON: Kara is there any place we can hide?
Lieutenant Carlson inputs commands into helm station and report.
LT. CARLSON: There's the Badlands bearing 1-7-8 mark 7-7-8.
CMDR. IVANOVA: It's where Voyager was at before she was taken to the Delta Quadrant.
BOOM.
CAPT. BRANSON: Its all we got set a course Kara.
LT. CARLSON: Altering course now sir.
Lieutenant Carlson inputs commands into the helm.
EXT-SPACE/BADLANDS
The Enterprise drops out of warp and heads towards the Badlands.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)
LT. SITO: We're entering the badlands now sir.
LT. MASON: Shields have failed.
LT. CARLSON: Warp drive is down as well!
CMDR. IVANOVA: You're hoping that the Cardassians will have the same problem.
CAPT. BRANSON (nods): Yeah, Jack arm five photon torpedo casings we're going to deploy them like mines, Kara when he does that I want you to pour whatever power you can into the impulse engines.
LT. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
Lieutenant Carlson input commands into the helm station as Captain Branson sits in the Captain's chair worried.

EXT-SPACE/BADLANDS
The Enterprise flies into the plasma storm as the Cardassian Keldon is close behind.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)

CAPT. BRANSON: Stay ahead of them Kara.
LT. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
Lieutenant Carlson inputs commands into the helm station.
EXT-SPACE/BADLANDS
The Enterprise flies by a plasma Streamer, as the Cardassian Keldon takes a devastating hit.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)
LT. MASON: They've taken a hit on their port blade. They're sending out a distress signal on all Cardassian frequencies.
Captain Branson walks over to him.
CAPT. BRANSON: Kara bring us about to the Cardassian vessel, Jack lock on a tractor beam we're going to tow the vessel out of the field.
The crew looks at Branson.
LT. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
Lieutenant Carlson inputs commands into the helm while Lieutenant Mason inputs commands into the tactical station.
EXT-SPACE/BADLANDS
The Enterprise comes about and flies over the damaged Cardassian vessel and a tractor beam locks on and the Enterprise tows the vessel out of the field.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)
CAPT. BRANSON (To com): Bridge to transporter room 3 lock onto any wounded Cardassians and beam them directly to sickbay.
CHIEF MCKENZIE (com voice): Aye, sir
CAPT. BRANSON (To com): Steven standby to receive wounded.
DR. CARLSON (Com Voice): We've got them and are starting to treat them
CAPT. BRANSON (To com): Keep me posted Branson out.
EXT-SPACE
The Enterprise and the Cardassian Keldon exits the field as two Cardassian Galor-class warships emerge from warp.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)
Transparent viewer shows the two Cardassian vessels.
CMDR. IVANOVA: Top of the line vessels.
LT. MASON: The lead Cardassian warship is hailing us.
CAPT. BRANSON: On screen.
Transparent viewer shows the bridge of the Cardassian warship.
CAPT. BRANSON: Greetings I am John Branson Captain of the Federation Starship USS Enterprise what can I do for you?
GUL DOLAK (Viewer): Gul Dolak, Cardassian Militia Four One. We have no argument with you, Captain
CAPT. BRANSON: Then tell me why in the hell are you rebuilding your ships that's in clear violation of the Treaty of Bajor that was signed at the end of the Dominion War, and why are you messing with a Romulan cloaking device as well!?
GUL DOLAK (Viewer): That doesn't consider you Captain
CAPT. BRANSON: We have every right to know what's going on Dolak!
The transmission ends.
LT. MASON: They've locked on their forward weapons array sir!
Branson tenses up.
LT. SITO: Sensors are picking up a warp cluster.

EXT-SPACE
A battlegroup of Federation and Klingon vessels emerge from warp.
INT-USS EXCELSIOR MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)
Captain Shelby gets up from the Captain's chair.
CAPT. SHELBY: This is Captain Elizabeth Shelby of the Federation Starship USS Excelsior you are in violation of the Treaty of Bajor, and are forced to withdraw and return the Romulan cloaking device you have fifteen minutes to withdraw.
EXT-SPACE
The Cardassian vessels retreat and enter warp along with the battle damaged Keldon.
INT-ENTERPRISE MAIN BRIDGE (RED ALERT)
Captain Branson leans back in his Captain's chair.
CAPT. BRANSON: Sito send my thanks to Captain Shelby.
LT. SITO: Aye, sir.
Lieutenant Sito inputs commands into the ops console.
CAPT. BRANSON: Kara set course for Deep Space 9 full impulse.
LT. CARLSON: Aye, sir.
EXT-SPACE/BAJOR SECTOR
The Federation/Klingon battlegroup approaches Deep Space 9.
