Kolez was a Saurian Starfleet officer stationed at the Vega colony as a security officer protecting Administrator Willa Post in 2409.
He almost mistook Jason Fredricks' away team for Borg, who had already begun invading the colony on stardate 83165.2. Fredricks' team was attempting to rescue as many colonists as possible, but the Borg had erected a dampening field, preventing the use of transporters.
