In the year 2063 just after the third world war that did serious damage to Earth and the governmental structure, Zefram Cochrane achieved his first warp flight test and made first contact with an interstellar race known as the Vulcans.
Over the next few decades Earth's technology jumped the United Earth Government mothballed the nuclear weapons, and are working to join the interstellar community but the Vulcan High Command is being helicopter mothers to the humans making sure that Earth doesn't join it too soon till 2151 Earth launched its first interstellar vessel Enterprise NX-01 under the command of Captain Jonathan Archer son of Henry Archer chief designer of the Warp Five engine that is powering Enterprise.
Over the next few months of the Enterprise's mission Archer has made contact with over a dozen new aliens, it wasn't till 2152 when Captain Archer and his crew made first contact with a hostile race known as the Romulan Star Empire they were able to escape the dangerous encounter with only minor damage to their port side and a exposed Impulse manifold. So far the Romulans have remained a mystery as to what they look like...
Year: 2156 Location: Starbase One, Berengaria VII
A Franklin-Class vessel drops out of warp and approaches the station that is flanked by two cargo transport ships the NX-05 Atlantis and the Shenadoah that's in dry-dock getting worked on, inside the base many people from everywhere in the Coalition are getting to know each other, shopping around the area and enjoying good food and the kids are in the schools learning about Captain Archer and his crew.
Then several unknown vessels drop out of warp just outside the defense line of the base.
In the Command post one of the officers report.
"Commander sensors have detected several unknown vessels just outside the defense line, no reply to all-frequency I.D. request," The Lieutenant says as he looks at his station's read out.
Commander Finnegan is sitting in her chair.
"Give me a visual," Commander Finnegan says as she gives an officer an order.
The screen shows the several vessels.
"Have the Atlantis move into an attack position," Commander Finnegan says as she gives an order.
He inputs commands into his console.
"The Atlantis is moving in on an intercept course sir, Commander all power on the Atlantis has been taken off-line reading something strange on the outer marker they have nukes they destroyed the Atlantis!" The Lieutenant says as he looks at his station.
"RED ALERT, ALL HANDS BATTLE STATIONS! Sound the evac alarm Lieutenant! Commander Finnegan says as she looks at him.
The Lieutenant inputs commands into the console.
The lights dimmed and klaxon sounds as the fighter pilots rush to their fighters and people are being evacuated to vessels.
The Franklin-Class Denver moves towards the unknown vessels but is quickly crippled and destroyed, then they destroyed the Daedalus-Class vessel Shenaodoah and the dry-dock that it was leaving. Tried to destroy a Vulcan transport vessel but it was able to leap into warp two warbirds destroyed the two transport vessels.
In the command post Commander Finnegan is shocked by what she's seeing.
"Deploy point defense turrets NOW! Commander Finnegan says as she looks at the officers.
The gunners rush to their stations and they activate the point defense turrets and start taking aim and firing.
Fighter shuttles move in but are quickly destroyed.
"Photonic torpedoes full spread take out that warbird!" Commander Finnegan says as she gives an order.
The Starbase unleashes a spread but no effect and the larger warbird and its escorts fire their disruptor beams and destroys the Starbase.In Earth orbit several dry-docks are holding different classes of Coalition vessels that are being upgraded and refitted for combat and wage war, as one of the berths holds the NX-Class vessel NX-06 Archer as worker bees are flying over the vessel working on it upgrading it for war as an inspection pod flies towards it.
In the pod Lieutenant Commander Stephanie Williams is at the controls as Captain Marcia Taylor is next to her looking at her new command after she was promoted to the rank of Captain, Commander Williams turns to Captain Taylor to give her an update on the upgrades and refit.
"As you can see Captain the engineering teams should be done by the time we launch," Commander Williams says as she looks at Captain Taylor.
Captain Taylor is still looking at her new command.
"Make sure your teams don't finish too fast I want them to take their time to finish by the time we leave for our shakedown cruise, cause from what I've been hearing Starfleet needs all the help it can get right now," Captain Taylor says as she is still looking at the dorsal section of the Archer.
Commander Williams studies the hull and the nacelles.
"Can we see the bridge?" Captain Taylor asked as she turns to Williams.
Stephanie smiles.
"Sure let me bring her in for docking," Commander Williams says as she inputs commands into the station.
The pod enters one of the docks on the outer hull and it closes.
On the bridge engineering teams are working on the stations and relays as the crew are working on their stations as well when the doors to the turbo-lift opens and Captain Taylor enters the bridge and one of the engineering officers sees Captain Taylor.
"CAPTAIN ON DECK!" One of the engineers shouts.
The engineers snap to attention.
"As you were," Captain Taylor says as she looks at them.
They resume working as Captain Taylor surveys the bridge as the engineers are working on the stations and putting in relays, she saw the new Captain's chair that Commodore Archer is using on Enterprise.
"Wanna try it?" Lieutenant Commander Williams says as she looks at Captain Taylor.
Captain Taylor sits in the Captain's chair.
"I like it," Captain Taylor says with a smile on her face.
Then Ensign Julie Smith turns from her station and reports.
"Captain we're receiving a hail from Starfleet Command its Vice Admiral Alan Halsey," Ensign Smith says as she looks at the Captain reporting.
"On screen Ensign," Captain Taylor says as she gets up from the center chair.
Ensign Smith inputs commands into the com console and then the main viewer changed to office of a Starfleet Officer wearing Vice Admiral bars on both sides of his uniform.
Captain how are you enjoying the Archer? Admiral Halsey says on the viewer.
"Well sir she's impressive and wonderful can't wait to take her on a shakedown cruise," Captain Taylor says as she looks at the viewer. Admiral Halsey leans back.
I hate to do this but we're cancelling your shakedown cruise Admiral Halsey says on the viewer.
Captain Taylor is surprised.
"Is there a reason?" Captain Taylor asked as she looking at the viewer.
Starfleet Command lost contact with Starbase One and the Atlantis, they want the Archer to take a look and search for survivors and find out who attacked them. And take the survivors should you find any to Starbase Ahoska II Admiral Halsey says on the viewer.
Captain Taylor thinks then turns to the viewer.
"Alright sir we'll do it just send us the coordinates to Ensign Carlson, and will we have any back up if we encounter Romulan forces?" Captain Taylor says as she looks at the viewer.
Admiral Halsey sighs and responds.
No the battlegroups are still being refitted and upgraded but I will see if we we've got any other vessels from either the Vulcans, Andorians or Tellarite forces near there Admiral Halsey says on the viewer.
Captain Taylor paces about then turns to the viewer and sighs.
"Very well sir we'll head to Starbase One and find out what happened," Captain Taylor says as she looks at the viewer.
Good luck then Captain Starfleet out Admiral Halsey says on the viewer.
Transmission ends as Lieutenant Mason leans back in the chair.
"Guess we're not going to test our new weapons and defense upgrades?" Lieutenant Mason says as he's disappointed.
Captain Taylor walks over to him.
"We'll do it while on route," Captain Taylor says as she looks at him.
She sits in the captain's chair and activates the ship-wide intercom as it does its bonus whistle.
"All hands this is the Captain speaking as you all know we've been ordered to head to Berengaria colony and Starbase One to provide help and render aid if we can, as of right now all shore leave is cancelled helm as soon as we've cleared space dock set a course for Berengaria IIV maximum Taylor out," Captain Taylor says as she speaks over the intercom.
"Helm ready Captain," Ensign Carlson says as she turns to Captain Taylor.
Captain Taylor turns to Ensign Smith.
"Hail the dock master," Captain Taylor says as she looks at her.
Ensign Smith inputs commands into the console.
"Dock master has cleared us for departure Captain," Ensign Smith says as she turns to her.
Captain Taylor turns to Ensign Carlson is at the helm.
"Take us out Ensign nice and steady," Captain Taylor says as she looks at her.
In the dry-dock umbilical cords unlatch from the Archer and her impulse engines power up and she slowly moves out of the berth.
On the bridge The crew is happy that the Archer has finally gotten out of spacedock.
"Course for Berengaria IIV is laid in ready for warp Captain," Ensign Carlson says as she turns to her.
"Engage," Captain Taylor says as she gives the order.
The Archer leaps into warp meanwhile the Pioneer-class UEA vessel Hammersley is on course for Berengaria system to meet up with the Archer to drop off Commander John Branson.
Commander Branson's Starlog March 11th 2156, After being dropped off at Starbase II Ahoska and then being picked up by the Hammersley , I'm going to the Berengaria system where I will be the new first officer of the NX-06 Archer after the destruction of the Vulcan colony in the Brezza sector as well as my friend's dishonorable discharge and his resignation from Starfleet. I don't know what awaits me at my new post but I am ready to service my Captain and crew with honor just wish Kyle was here serving with me as well.
In the infirmary Doctor Chris Blake is scanning Commander Branson giving him a full physical to make sure that he's fit for duty onboard the Archer as its first officer.
"Any issues since your last medical exam?" Doctor Blake says as he is scanning Commander Branson and looks at him.
"No just can't sleep much keep seeing the Vulcan colonist dying over and over again," Commander Branson says as he looks at him.
Lieutenant Brown rubs his back comforting him Doctor Blake scans him.
"I am detecting a slight increase in your dopamine levels I'll give you a mild sedative to help with the sleeping issues," Doctor Blake says as he injects him with the meds.
Doctor Blake injects him with the meds.
"As for the dreams I'd record them in a log," Doctor Blake says as he looks at him.
Commander Branson gets off the bio-bed.
"Thanks Chris," Commander Branson says as he looks at him.
He leaves the infirmary.
The UEA Hammersley is soaring at warp.
In the ready room Captain Flynn is sitting at his desk as strategic operations officer Lieutenant Commander Kate McGregor is holding a PADD.
"The latest reports from Starfleet Command on the battlegroups getting prep for war," Kate says as she hands him a PADD.
Captain Flynn reviews the PADD.
"Damn that's not good most of the ships would need years for refitting and upgrades but these Romulans are causing alot of problems," Captain Flynn says as he looks at the PADD and puts it on his desk.
"These Romulans are annoying ever since the attack on Starbase One and the deaths of 6,000 people is sadding," Kate says as she looks at him.
Then the doors chimed.
"Come," Captain Flynn says as he looks at the door.
The door opened and Commander Branson enters and stands at attention.
"Commander John Branson reporting as ordered sir," Commander Branson says as he stands at attention.
"At ease Commander before you sprain something," Captain Flynn says as he looks at him.
Commander Branson goes to at ease.
"You wanted to see me sir?" Commander Branson says as he looks at Captain Flynn.
"Ah yes Commander Branson yes please sit," Captain Flynn says as he looks at Commander Branson.
Commander Branson sits in the chair.
"We should be arriving in the Berengaria system in over an hour," Commander Branson says as he looks at Captain Flynn.
Captain Flynn reviews the PADD.
"Thanks Commander its gonna be tough losing my first officer to another vessel, but you've been one hell of an executive officer on the Hammersley. The crew will have a tough time adjusting to you not being onboard," Captain Flynn says as he looks at him.
Then Commander McGregor chimes in.
"We're going to miss you John," Kate says as she looks at him.
Then the com activates.
Captain Flynn to the Bridge Lieutenant Junior Grade Caetano says over the com.
They exit the ready room and step onto the bridge now the bridge is kinda like the bridge of the submarine UEO vessel SeaQuest DSV 4600 II except no Darwin tank in the back, the Captain's chair is in the middle as the helm station is in front of the chair and main viewer the communications station is on the Captain's right next to the tactical console, and the Engineering console is next to the XO station Captain Flynn, Commander Branson, and Lieutenant Commander McGregor are there.
"Report?" Captain Flynn asked as he sits in the center chair.
"We're approaching Berengaria IIV sir," Lieutenant Junior Grade Webb reports. from the helm station.
Captain Flynn tenses up a bit.
"Drop us out of warp tactical alert," Captain Flynn says as he gives orders to his crew.
Lights dimmed and klaxons blare.
"Ready phase cannons load the forward launchers divert all power to hull plating," Captain Flynn says as he turns to Lieutenant Commander Mulholland.
The Hammersley drops out of warp and enters the system as debris floats by the Pioneer-class vessel.
On the bridge the viewer shows the debris field.
"Survivors?" Captain Flynn asked as he gets up from the Captain's chair.
"Nothing on sensors sir," Ensign White says as he looks at his station's sensor readings.
Then Lieutenant Caetano reports.
"Sir it seems that the Romulans used nukes I'm detecting radiation flares that are 1.2 parts per millions," Lieutenant Caetano says as she looks at the station.
Everyone is shocked by this as Captain Flynn slumps in the command chair.Both ships are in the system as Archer is docked with the Hammersley.
In the Command Center Captain Taylor, Captain Flynn, Commander Branson, and Lieutenant Commander McGregor are in the room.
"We did a complete search of the area for survivors and we found none, it looks like the Romulans didn't want anyone to get the word out," Captain Flynn says as he looks at Captain Taylor.
Then Commander Branson chimes in.
"The only vessel that survived was a Vulcan ship that was there for diplomatic relations between the Coalition of Planets and the people of the system, Admiral Black tried to get answers to what happened but Minister T'Pau didn't want the crew questioned more and it happened very fast," Commander Branson says as he looks at them.
Captain Taylor folds her arms and chimes in.
"So how do we defend against their drone vessels?" Captain Taylor asked as she looks at him.
Commander Branson shrugs his shoulders.
"Unknown at the moment Captain," Commander Branson says as he looks at her.
Then Captain Flynn sighs and chimes in.
"Well Marcia we better get back to Starbase II so we can meet up with the fourth battlegroup we're attempting to push back the Romulans from Terra Nova," Captain Flynn says as he looks at Captain Taylor.
Marcia smiles and chimes in.
"Alright then Mike thanks for delivering my first officer," Captain Taylor says as she looks at him.
Then Captain Flynn walks over to John.
"John it was an honor serving with you mate and I hope we meet again soon and you're a Captain yourself," Mike says as he looks at John.
They shook hands.
"Thank you sir and same to you," Commander Branson says as he looks at him and shook his hand.
Captain Flynn and Commander McGregor leave the command center.
Both ships undock and the Hammersley clears the field and leaps into warp, unknown to Archer their being watched by two Romulan warbirds.
On the bridge of the lead warbird the viewer shows the NX-Class vessel as Vice Admiral Valdore looks at the viewer.
"Have they detected us?" Admiral Valdore says as he's still looking at the viewer showing the Archer.
The Centurion checks his console and reports.
"No sir they're still combing the debris field of their fallen Starbase and vessels," The Centurion says as he reports.
Valdore turns to the viewer showing the Archer.
"Prepare to attack," Admiral Valdore says with a smirk.
The Archer is still combing the field searching for survivors incase the Hammersley missed something, in his new quarters Commander Branson is unpacking his bags when the door chimed.
"Come in," John says as he's still unpacking.
The door opens and Ensign Julia Smith enters.
"I heard that we had a new first officer and I wanted to say hi to him," Julia says as she looks at him.
They hugged.
"Its good to see you again Julia and you're an Ensign I thought you would be Lieutenant Junior by now," John says as he looks at her.
"I'm working on it still I'm close to it though look I'm sorry for what happened between you and Jessica after your court martial," Julia says as she looks at him.
John leans on the bulkhead.
"Same here Julia how is she doing did she find anyone else?" John asked as he looks at her.
"No she talks about you here and there," Julia says as she looks at him.
"Really even after what happened?" John asked as he looks at her.
She nods then Lieutenant Mason's voice comes over the com.
Tactical Alert senior staff report to the bridge Lieutenant Mason says over the com.
Both Julia and John leaves his quarters.
Two Romulan Warbirds one Stormbird-class warship and one T'Varos-class vessel enters the system and approaches the debris field that the NX-06 Archer is currently combing.
Commander Branson and Lieutenant Smith enter the bridge and assume their stations as Captain Taylor is standing behind Ensign Carlson.
"Range?" Captain Taylor asked as she looks at Ensign Carlson.
Ensign Carlson checks her console read out.
"Range 20,000 kilometers and closing Captain," Ensign Carlson says as she looks at her console.
"What do we got Mister Mason?" Captain Taylor asked as she looks at him.
Lieutenant Mason checks his station and reports.
"One Stormbird-class warship and one T'Varos-class warbird their armed to the teeth," Lieutenant Mason says as he looks at his station. "Let's see them," Captain Taylor says as she is then in front of the helm station.
The viewer shows the two warships.
"we're being hailed audio only," Ensign Smith says as she looks at her console.
"Let's hear it," Captain Taylor says as she's still looking at the viewer.
She inputs commands into the console.
"Greetings I'm Marcia Taylor Captain of the United Earth vessel Archer you seem to be a bit lost," Captain Taylor says as she walks back to her command chair.
The Romulan Commander comes over the speaker.
This sector has been claimed by the Romulan Star Empire leave now or be destroyed this is your first and only warning The Romulan Commander says over the com.
Captain Taylor tenses up as the transmission ends.
"Their moving in on an attack vector Captain," Lieutenant Mason says as he looks at the console.
Captain Taylor sits in her chair.
"Ready weapons!" Captain Taylor says as she settles herself into the command chair.
Lieutenant Mason inputs commands to ready the tactical systems, as the ship jolts under fire.
"Hull plating is holding Captain," Lieutenant Mason says as he looks at his console and reports.
Captain Taylor raises her hand.
"Hold your fire they have torpedoes to waste we don't till we get back home," Captain Taylor says as she is still looking at the main viewer.
Lieutenant Mason readies to fire sparks erupt from the ceiling and the MSD.
"Hull plating holding ma'am it seems the new upgrades to the hull plating is paying off," Lieutenant Mason says as he looks at his station's read out and smiles.
Then Ensign Smith turns to Captain Taylor.
"Just received a transmission from Captain Flynn the Hammersley has reverse course and is heading back to reinforce us," Ensign Smith says as she reports to Captain Taylor.
Commander Branson chimes in.
"Captain the Hammersley won't get here in time to help us by the time we end up like the Atlantis and the other ships that were here," Commander Branson says as he looks at her.
Ship jolts harder and harder.
"Fire!" Captain Taylor says as she gives the order.
Lieutenant Mason presses the firing button on his station.
The Archer's phase cannon blasts lanced out, searing through the lead Romulan craft's hull plating in angry exclamations; a full spread of torpedoes slammed home, detonating with flashes of atomic fire that ravaged the craft, ripping apart the superstructure to expose the delicate inner hull to yet another burst of phase cannon fire. Unable to withstand the withering assault, the ship shuddered, venting plasma and atmosphere before it was finally destroyed as the Stormbird-class vessel flies through the fiery explosion of its comrade.
On the bridge Lieutenant Mason reports.
"One enemy vessel destroyed Captain," Lieutenant Mason says as he looks at his station.
Captain Taylor leans forward.
"Target the Stormbird-class vessel we need to cripple its ability to self-destruct if we can capture it we can study this class and figure out how to take it down," Captain Taylor says as she looks at him.
Lieutenant Mason inputs commands into the tactical station.
"Aye, Captain targeting the second vessel," Lieutenant Mason says as he inputs commands into his station and presses the firing button.
The remaining Romulan vessel fights the Archer as both ships are firing at each other.
On the bridge more sparks erupt from the ceiling and MSD.
"Damage report," Captain Taylor asked as she looks at the crew.
Lieutenant Mason looks at his station.
"Hullplating down to 45%," Lieutenant Mason says as he looks at his station.
Then Ensign Smith reports as well.
"Hull breach on C Deck section 14," Ensign Smith reports as she looks at her station.
"Emergency bulkheads!" Captain Taylor says as she looks at her.
"Aye, Captain bulkhead in place and holding," Ensign Smith says as she activates the bulkhead to seal the breach.
Another shower of sparks erupt from the ceiling as Lieutenant Mason's eyes meet with Captain Taylor's.
"Captain we can't go toe-to-toe with them, this class is powerful it took out our Starbase with a single energy beam," Lieutenant Mason says as he looks at her.
Ship jolts harder.
"Evasive pattern delta Ensign put some distance between us," Captain Taylor says as she pats Ensign Carlson on her shoulder.
"Pattern delta aye, Captain," Ensign Carlson says as she gets to work on her station.
Once more, Archer maneuvered like a ship half her size, slipping and spinning in completely random patterns that turned her into an elusive target. Nipping at her heels like wolves pursuing prey, the Stormbird-class vessel fires its energy beam that destroyed Starbase One but misses the NX-Class vessel.
On the bridge Ensign Carlson glides her hands over her station ship jolts under fire from the vessels photonic torpedoes hitting the dorsal plating as Lieutenant Mason reports.
"Starboard plating buckling!" Lieutenant Mason reports as he looks at his station's read out.
"Re-route power to back-up emitters," Captain Taylor says as she looks at him.
"Aye, Captain re-routing now," Lieutenant Mason says as he inputs commands into the console.
In main engineering The damage wasn't as extensive as she had feared Lieutenant Commander Williams is working with her staff to keep the power grid on-line.
"We've got pressure building up in plasma conduit G six. Ashmore, open up the emergency vent. I'll try to reroute the plasma flow," Commander Williams says as she is at the warp reactor control station looking at the screens and gives orders.
A shower of sparks and a strangled scream from one of the monitoring stations demanded her attention and she was moving toward it before her brain had fully registered the sounds for what they were. Ensign Beckham, a relative newcomer to the crew, was crumpled in a heap, her uniform still smoking even as the console spewed flames.
"BECKHAM!" Commander Williams shouts she gets from the control station and she goes to the young crewmen's station that is torn to shreds, she grabs the young officer and pulls her from the damage station as two engineers with fire extinguishers.
Williams checks the officer's pulse.
"No don't you die on me Ensign MEDIC!" Commander Williams says as she starts CPR on the Ensign.
A medic enters Engineering and goes to where they are and Williams backs away.
"I've given her CPR but it maybe too late," Commander Williams says as she looks at him.
He gets his medical kit and starts treating her as Commander Williams goes to the warp reactor control station as the medic puts Ensign Beckham on the stretcher and takes her off to sickbay for further treatment.
On the bridge sparks erupt as lights and console screens flicker.
"We've lost the Starboard plating!" Lieutenant Mason shouts as coolant spews next to him.
Ship rocks harder and harder.The UEA Hammersley soars at warp speed heading back to reinforce the Archer.
On the bridge Captain Flynn exits his ready room as Commander McGregor moves from the command chair.
"Report," Captain Flynn says as he sits in the center chair.
"We're still an hour away at best sir," Lieutenant Webb says as he looks at the read out on the helm station.
Captain Flynn activates the com.
"Bridge to Engineering," Captain Flynn says as he speaks into the com.
Charge here go ahead sir Charge says over the com.
"Charge I need more speed if the Archer is outgunned and outnumbered we need to be there," Captain Flynn says as he speaks into the com.
Aye, sir I'll give you all she's got and more Charge says over the com.
Power hums as Lieutenant Webb looks at the helm station.
"We're at warp five point seven sir," Lieutenant Webb says as he looks at the helm station.
"Good job Charge you just earned your pay for the day," Captain Flynn says as he speaks into the com and ends the transmission.
He sits back in the chair.
"Mister Dixon any further response from the Archer?" Captain Flynn says as he turns to him.
Lieutenant Dixon turns to him.
"No sir not since their original distress call," Lieutenant Dixon says as he reports.
Rebecca is worried about John as Kate walks over to her.
"We'll get there soon Bomber I'm sure John is alright," Kate says as she looks at her.
She smiles.
"I hope so Commander," Lieutenant Brown says as she looks at her.
Meanwhile the Archer isn't doing well as she's being cut to pieces by the Stormbird-class vessel her port nacelle has been struck and is venting plasma.
On the bridge sparks erupt as lights are off and console screens are off as well the only thing lighting the bridge is fires.
"We've got hull breaches on C, D and E," Lieutenant Mason says as he looks at his console.
"Emergency bulkheads!" Captain Taylor shouts as she's in the command chair.
Lieutenant Mason inputs commands into the tactical station.
"The bulkheads aren't responding we're venting atmosphere!" Lieutenant Mason shouts.
In main engineering its not looking good either, fires are everywhere and being put out by the Engineering staff, as Commander Williams goes to the com panel and activates it.
"Bridge we've taken a direct hit to the port nacelle we're venting drive plasma, and we've got coolant leaks all over the place down here," Commander Williams says as she speaks into the com.
Then a fire starts up top.
"Someone put that out before it reaches the anti-matter injectors!" Commander Williams shouts.
On the bridge Captain Taylor gets up from the captain's chair and walks over to the helm station and leans on it.
"Bring us about nose to nose with the Stormbird-class vessel Kara," Captain Taylor says as she turns to Ensign Carlson.
Ensign Carlson turns to her shocked by the order.
"You heard me Ensign," Captain Taylor says as she looks at her.
"Aye, Captain, Ensign Carlson says as she inputs commands into the helm station.
The viewer shows the Warbird.
"Full impulse speed divert whatever power we have left to the forward plating," Captain Taylor says as she gives orders to both Lieutenant Mason and Ensign Carlson.
Both officers comply with the orders.
The Archer's impulse engines power up and the ship surges forward towards the vessel.
On the bridge the crew are awaiting their death when T'Lar reports.
"Detecting a warp signature," Lieutenant T'Lar reports from the science station.
Lieutenant Mason reports.
"Confirmed its the Hammersley," Lieutenant Mason says with a smile.
Captain Taylor looks up at the main viewer.
The UEA Dreadnought Hammersley emerges from warp and fires her phase cannons and photonic torpedoes at the Stormbird punching through the shields and dealing critical hits.
On the warbird's main bridge sparks erupt from the ceiling and consoles.
"Return fire!" Admiral Valdore shouts.
"We can't sir they damaged the disruptor array," The officer reports.
"Get us out of here maximum warp," Admiral Valdore says as he sits in his chair.
The Stormbird turns and leaps into warp and the Hammersley flies over the Archer.
On the bridge the crew are relieved that their not going to die.
Both ships are docked with each other, in sickbay the Hammersley medical team helps Doctor Carlson and his medical staff help treat the wounded.
"Thanks for the help Chris," Doctor Carlson says as he looks at him.
"Your welcome Steven," Chris says as he looks at Doctor Carlson.
In the command center Commander Williams is working on restoring the power systems, as Captain Taylor shakes Captain Flynn's hand.
"Thanks for giving us some back up," Captain Taylor says as she looks at him.
"Its our pleasure I had a feeling that the Romulans would come back and take out whoever was here searching for survivors," Captain Flynn says as he looks at her.
The door opens and Charge enters.
"Report Charge what's the damage?" Captain Flynn says as he looks at him.
He puts the Engineering kit down and gives both Captains a report.
"The primary warp coil in the port nacelle is fried. It has to be rebuilt from scratch," Charge says as he reports.
"How long will it take to rebuild?" Captain Taylor asked as she looks at him.
"A couple of weeks, if they had the parts. Which they don't as it stands now, warp drive's out of the question," Charge says as he looks at them.
Captain Flynn thinks.
"Charge could we give them a spare one that we have in cargo bay 15?" Captain Flynn says as he looks at him.
Charge thinks.
"It should work yeah we have at least fourteen we were given when we launched," Charge says as he looks at Captain Flynn.
Then the com activates.
Bridge to Captain Taylor Commander Branson says over the com.
Captain Taylor activates the com panel.
"Taylor here go ahead," Captain Taylor says as she speaks into the com.
We're receiving a hail from Command its Rear Admiral Gregory Black on a secure channel Commander Branson says over the com.
"Patch it here John," Captain Taylor says into the com.

The United Earth symbol appears on the screen and later the office of Rear Admiral Black appears on the screen.

Captain Taylor sighs.
"Salem One is gone sir no survivors the Romulans completely destroyed the base and the ships around it as well," Captain Taylor says as she looks at the screen.

"We almost became part of that list if it wasn't for the timely arrival of Captain Flynn and his crew," Captain Taylor says as she looks at the screen.

"It was my pleasure sir it was right to save the crew of the Archer," Captain Flynn says as he looks at the screen.
What's the condition of the Archer? Admiral Black says on the screen.
"We've taken heavy damage sir but we're still able to fight, but our warp drive is crippled right now," Captain Taylor says as she looks at the screen.
Captain Flynn escort the Archer to Starbase II Ahsoka then resume your course for the Terra Nova System the Romulans are looking to make a major push into that system Admiral Black says on the screen.

Meanwhile the damaged Stormbird Warbird is warping back to its battlegroup, in his office Valdore is being dressed down my General Chulak.
I can't believe that you retreated from battle! General Chulak says on the screen.
General the human dreadnought dropped out of warp caught us by surprise and damaged our tactical systems, but we dealt a serious blow to the Archer and her crew their moral is gonna be lower then ever since we destroyed their base Admiral Valdore says as he looks at the screen.
So low that Starfleet Command might issue a surrender General Chulak says as he speaks to himself.
"Keep me in this war and I will hand you the entire Alpha Quadrant on a plate, my men trust me and I trust them," Valdore says as he looks at the screen.
Very well don't disappoint me you must speak with the Praetor on your progress General Chulak says on the screen.
Valdore nods and the transmission ends.

In his quarters John and Rebecca are making love and its intense as they've not had sex since the war began, they stop and cuddle.
"Damn that was good," Becka says as she looks at John.

In Admiral Samuel Gardner's office both Captain Taylor is standing in front of his desk wearing her dress uniforms, as Admiral Gardner is looking at Captain Taylor's report on the results of Starbase I.
"I heard about the Archer," Admiral Gardner says as he looks at the PADD and then at Captain Taylor.
"Commander Williams says she'll be back up and running in a few days," Captain Taylor says as she looks at him.
Gardner reviews her report.
"The destruction of Starbase I was a utter shock to the Coalition and everyone on Earth," Admiral Gardner says as he looks at her.
"Yes, sir it is," Captain Taylor says as she looks at him.
The NX-06 Archer is docked at the Starbase as repair teams are the hull.
On the bridge Commander Branson is reviewing a PADD as he walks out of the Captain's ready room, as Ensign Smith reports.
"Sir we just received from Starfleet Command they just launched the first battlegroup under the command of Commodore Archer their heading to the Algeron system," Ensign Smith reports as she turns to Commander Branson.
"Have Starfleet relay us the information on it," Commander Branson says as he looks at her.
Ensign Smith nods.
"I can't believe that we're on the sidelines," Lieutenant Mason says as he looks at her.
Then Ensign Carlson chimes in.
"It will be tough to us to fight with us damaged," Ensign Carlson says as she looks at Jack.
Commander Branson sits in the center chair.
"I know the feeling Ensign but we're damaged and are in need of repair, and you know how Williams gets when something needs to be fixed," Commander Branson says as he looks at her.
In main engineering Commander Williams and her staff are hard at work repairing the power grid and systems to get the Archer back into the fight.
"Nelson I'm going to need a full report on the new port engine refits by 1900 hours," Commander Williams says as she looks at him.
"Aye, Commander," Ensign Nelson says as he leaves.
"Now to get some well deserve rest," Commander Williams says as she leaves Main engineering.
In her quarters Stephanie is sleeping when the ship jolts and alarms go off she quickly gets dressed and heads out, on E Deck a crewmen is badly burnt as coolant spews from the conduit as Williams runs towards the wounded officer and pulls him back and goes to a station and activates the com.
"Williams to Engineering shut down the auxiliary coolant line between sections twelve and fourteen on E deck!" Commander Williams says as she spoke into the com.
Aye, Commander an officer says over the com.
She then calls sickbay.
"Sickbay medical emergency on E deck, section twelve!" Commander Williams says into the com.
We're on our way Doctor Carlson says over the com.
She checks the console read out.
"Reactor pressure's holding," Commander Williams says as she looks at the station.The Archer's repairs are nearly completed and nearly finished so the NX-Class can get back in the fight.
In his quarters John is sleeping soundly till the klaxon blares wakes him up.
"What now!" John says as he's a bit annoyed.
Then the com activates.
Senior Staff report to the bridge Ensign Smith says over the com.
John gets dressed and leaves his quarters then a few minutes later the senior staff enters the bridge.
"This better be good Julia its 0400 hours in the morning," Captain Taylor says as she looks at the young ensign.
Ensign Smith turns to Captain Taylor and reports.
"Actually its not good news Captain its bad news very bad news, the joint battlegroup was defeated at Algeron and the Vulcan Confed has pulled out of the war. And the Romulans now are in control of the Algeron system," Ensign Smith says as she looks at Captain Taylor.
Commander Branson shocked at that.
"But we had a joint battlegroup how could they be defeated that easily anyway?" Commander Branson says with a shocked expression.
Ensign Smith listens to her ear wig and reports.
"Something about lost of power to all ships," Ensign Smith says as she listens into her ear wig.
Then Captain Taylor thinks and then chimes in.
"Maybe that's what got the Atlantis at Starbase I," Captain Taylor says as she looks at them.
John thinking.
"Its possible," Commander Branson says as he looks at her.
Then the door opened and Commander Williams enters the bridge holding a PADD and reports.
"Everything is in the green engines, weapons, hullplating, life-support, main power grid everything," Commander Williams says as she gives a full report.
"Commander prep all hands for departure," Captain Taylor says as she looks at Commander Branson.
"Aye Captain," Commander Branson says as he looks at her.
Then Ensign Smith reports.
"Uh Captain Admiral Gardner wants to speak with Lieutenant T'Lar," Ensign Smith as she turns to Captain Taylor.
Captain Taylor and Commander Branson turn to each other then Captain Taylor turns back to Ensign Smith.
"Uh does the Admiral know that we're a few hours away from departure?" Captain Taylor asked as she looks at Ensign Smith.
"He says that its important," Ensign Smith says as she looks at Captain Taylor.
Captain Taylor rubs her temples.
"Alright fine tell him that T'Lar will be there shortly," Captain Taylor says as she looks at Ensign Smith.
"Aye, Captain," Ensign Smith says as she inputs commands into the console.
Lieutenant T'Lar gets up from the chair.
"We'll return for you T'Lar when our mission is finished," Captain Taylor says as she looks at T'Lar.
"Good luck Captain live long and prosper," Lieutenant T'Lar says as she gives the Vulcan salute.
She leaves the bridge.
On D-Deck near the starboard airlock, T'Lar is approaching the airlock only to see her husband Doctor Steven Carlson.
"T'Lar where are you going? Steven says as he looks at T'Lar.
"The Admiral wants to see me about something," T'Lar says as she looks at him.
She walks over to the console and inputs commands into the station to pressurize the airlock.
"Why we're about to depart for our next mission?" Steven asked as he looks at her.
"I'll find out when I go to see him," T'Lar says as she looks at him.
The doors opened and two Starfleet security officers are standing there holding plasma rifles.
"Don't worry Steve I'll be fine," T'Lar says as she looks at her husband.
They put their two fingers together and kiss and T'Lar walks to the base as the hatch closes, the Archer departs and leaps into warp. In Admiral Gardner's office the Admiral is looking out his window at the Coalition ships.
"You understand your mission Lieutenant T'Lar?" Admiral Gardner asked as he turns to face T'Lar.
"Yes, sir I will infiltrate the flagship of Admiral Valdore and find out what the Romulans are planning for the war," T'Lar says as she looks at him.
Then Ambassador Soval chimes in.
"We'll allow you to use one of our ships to head into Romulan Space," Soval says as he looks at her.
She nods and then leaves as both Admiral Gardner and Soval are a bit worried.
"You think the crew of the Archer will know that she's not returning to their ship for a few weeks?" Soval asked as he turns to Admiral Gardner.
Gardner turns to him.
"I don't think they know," Admiral Gardner says as he looks at him then turns to face his window.
Meanwhile Admiral Valdore's flagship with holes in it from the Hammersley is at warp with the battlegroup, in his office Valdore is speaking with Praetor D'Deridex.
You understand your mission Valdore! Praetor D'Deridex asked on the screen.
"Yes Praetor attack Earth colonies and shipping lanes to prevent other Coalition forces from providing the humans help," Admiral Valdore says as he looks at the screen.
Very well then Admiral don't fail me or you will be executed Praetor D'Deridex says on the monitor.
"Yes, Praetor by your will," Admiral Valdore says as he looks at the screen.

Transmission ends as Valdore is a bit frustrated as he was hoping to be on the frontlines destroying the combat vessels of the UEA not ships that can hardly defend themselves.
